Electric motors play a majorrole in this strategy; since around 40% of global energydemand is estimated to be related to electric motorapplications. Consequently, any initiatives to increase energy efficiency, by using high efficiency electric motors andfrequency inverters, are to be welcomed, as they can make a real contribution to reductions in global energy demand.At the same time as efficiency initiatives make an impact intraditional market sectors, the application of new technologies in emerging sectors is resulting in profound changes in theway that electric motors are applied and controlled.
